Description

Catalityc converters recycling is complicated process. This machine was designed to grind down the catalytic converters to smaller pieces. In this way it becomes easier to separate metal from the ceramics so then recycling becomes easier process.

Challenges

Reduce the noise and choose proper motor to ensure rotation on low RPM.

  • It should be heavy loaded with catalyc converters and steel balls to grind converters into smaller pieces In this way it becomes easier to separate metal from the ceramics so then recycling becomes easier process

Approach

Thick insulation with double sided adhesive was used to reduce the noise. Motor was selected based on torque calculations to make sure it's strong enough to rotate loaded machine.

Results

Noise from the machine stays within required range.
Motor is strog enough to rotate the machine on low rate RPM, not using inertia.
