Senior Full-Stack Tech Lead (AI-native)

Description

Our client is an early-stage SaaS company developing an AI-powered hiring platform that helps organizations make better hiring decisions through skills matching, cultural fit analysis, psychometric profiling, and AI-assisted assessments. The product is preparing to launch with its first pilot customers. The development process is built around an AI-native workflow, with Claude Code and AI agents handling most of the coding while engineers focus on architecture, technical direction, code quality, and validation. We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Tech Lead to become the first technical hire, take ownership of the platform's technical quality, and lead its transition from pilot to production. The role involves close collaboration with the founder and the opportunity to shape how AI agents are used throughout the development process.

Necessary skills and qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in web development, including senior or technical leadership responsibility for a production SaaS product.
• At least 6 months of daily, hands-on experience using Claude Code or a comparable agentic coding tool as the primary development workflow.
• Practical experience creating custom AI development tools and configurations, such as CLAUDE.md files, skills, subagents, hooks, or MCP integrations.
• Strong understanding of AI agent limitations and the ability to prevent issues through testing, code review, constraints, and isolated execution.
• Strong TypeScript, React, and Node.js skills, with solid PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Experience delivering LLM-powered features to real users.
• Experience with production deployments, monitoring, incident handling, and software reliability.
• Understanding of application security and secure handling of sensitive personal data.
• Excellent English and clear asynchronous communication skills.
• Strong ownership, pragmatic decision-making, business awareness, and a startup mindset.

Would be a plus:

• Experience in HR tech, recruitment platforms, or applicant tracking systems (ATS).
• Familiarity with GDPR, the EU AI Act, or security hardening.
• Experience with BullMQ, Prisma, Vercel, or Railway.
• Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Own and continuously improve the AI-native development workflow, including agent skills, playbooks, hooks, integrations, and orchestration.
• Review AI-generated code at scale, identify potential issues, and ensure code quality, maintainability, and reliability before merging.
• Establish and improve automated testing, security checks, and guardrails for AI-generated code.
• Lead the platform's transition from pilot to production and take ownership of deployments, monitoring, production incidents, and system stability.
• Make technical and architectural decisions that support product quality, security, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain LLM-powered product features, including evaluation processes for output quality and consistency.
• Manage LLM-related costs, failure scenarios, fallback mechanisms, and prompt-injection risks.
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive candidate data and contribute to GDPR-compliant data processing.
• Work closely with the founder to translate product requirements and pilot customer feedback into clearly scoped technical tasks.
• Take ownership of the technical development process and continuously improve how engineers and AI agents collaborate.
