Embrox Solutions is a hardware & software product engineering company with offices in Lviv, Ukraine and Tallinn, Estonia. We design and build connected products — from smart home devices and fitness equipment to healthcare and energy solutions — that end up in real hospitals, gyms, homes, and studios worldwide. Our teams cover the full product cycle: embedded firmware, hardware design, mobile/web apps, and cloud connectivity. We’re looking for a proactive Manual QA Engineer (Junior+/Middle level) to join our QA team and own the testing of our IoT products end-to-end — the physical device, its firmware, the companion app, and the cloud layer that connects them. (Please note: we consider candidates from Lviv only, office-based role.)
Necessary skills and qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience in manual QA (software and/or hardware)
- Solid understanding of QA fundamentals: test case design, test plans, bug lifecycle, reporting
- Experience testing physical devices/hardware integrations, or strong motivation to grow into hardware testing
- Conceptual understanding of embedded systems and connectivity protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, MQTT)
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (Jira, TestRail or similar)
- High attention to detail and comfort working with test benches and lab equipment
- Intermediate+ English (team and client communication)
- Readiness to work full-time from the Lviv office
Would be a plus:
- Experience testing IoT / connected devices, wearables, or smart home products
- Familiarity with basic electronics and lab tools (multimeter, power supply, oscilloscope)
- Experience with API testing (Postman)
- Basic scripting for test automation (Python)
- Understanding of hardware communication protocols: I2C, UART, SPI, BLE, Zigbee
Responsibilities:
- Design, document, and execute manual test cases covering hardware, firmware, companion app, and cloud connectivity
- Test physical prototypes and production devices together with embedded firmware and connected software
- Set up and run test scenarios on lab test benches
- Log, track, and verify bug fixes in Jira; write clear, reproducible bug reports
- Collaborate closely with embedded, hardware, and software engineers throughout the release cycle
- Maintain and improve test documentation, checklists, and QA processes
- Participate in requirements and design reviews to catch issues early in the product cycle
