Junior/Middle Firmware Engineer
Description
Project Summary Domain: Physical access control / smart lock hardware - embedded firmware development for a security-focused client in the door hardware and access control industry. Scope: Firmware development for battery-powered, wirelessly connected lock/access-control devices, covering low-level peripheral control, secure credential handling (BLE/NFC-based mobile and card access), and integration with cloud reporting/OTA infrastructure.
Necessary skills and qualifications:
- 1+ years of professional experience
- BS in CS/EE/CE or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong C/C++ for microcontrollers.
- Peripheral-level work - I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO
- Debugging tooling - JTAG/SWD, logic analyzer, oscilloscope.
- Git-based workflow, code review discipline
- English B1+
- Willingness to work closely with the firmware & hardware team
- Participate and communicate politely at daily meetings (minimum 1-2 hours per day)
- Comfortable working in a distributed team across time zones
Would be a plus:
- CAN buss protocol
- Embedded security fundamentals — secure boot, encrypted storage, key management
- Embedded Linux
Responsibilities:
- Develop firmware for microcontrollers.
- Support board bring-up and low-level debugging.
- Optimize firmware for performance, reliability, and power efficiency.
- Contribute to firmware architecture and coding standards.
- Work closely with the technical writer to ensure the code is properly documented.
