Concrete drainage gutters are one of the most popular options when people look for the best price/quality ratio. One of the steps in the manufacturing process is the compaction of concrete using vibration. The mold itself is a structural design unit that withstands significant repeatable loads.

Challenges

Create a low-cost mold to produce concrete gutters that could be operated manually by a single worker.

Key features

  • The mold should be easy to open, close, and lock, strong enough to withstand high-frequency vibration loads while compacting concrete.

Approach

We used sheet metal to reduce the machining costs. Where possible, we cut out extra material to reduce the weight.

Results

The mold was created in a way that it is easy to operate by a single worker and withstands repeatable vibration loads when making drainage gutters.
